FriendsVPS was an idea to do away with the corporate charity middlemen and help provide people in the third world with computing resources they need in order to improve their lives. It was also intended that people would be able to help out without having to put any of their own money in, by visiting sites giving away free cryptocurrency, and other similar sites.
Since then it has evolved and is now at clickforcharity.net/
